What do you get when a displaced Florida native crosses paths with a born and bred Wisconsin musician? Well, in the case of Jacquelyn Beaupre and Donivan Berube, you end up with indie-folk duo Blessed Feathers. Their story sounds so much like a fairytale that one would be tempted to think it was conjured — but the truth, as we all know, is stranger than fiction. Blessed Feathers came to life around late 2009/early 2010, after Berube, the aforementioned former Floridian, met Beaupre in a West Bend, WI diner where the two were employed. Originally intending only to produce Beaupre’s original music, the pair slowly started writing songs together, which culminated in a 5-track EP recorded and released in 2012. Peaceful Beasts in an Ocean of Weeds showcases the duo’s musical adeptness, with both Berube and Beaupre playing multiple instruments.

Not only have Beaupre and Berube crafted a beautiful musical partnership in the short time they’ve known each other, but they’ve also formed a deep romantic relationship — evidenced by a show the two played on December 18, 2012, when Berube got down on one knee and proposed on stage. Though it sounds like a fairytale ending, let’s hope for this couple that it’s only the beginning of a long, beautiful life together. Oh yeah, and they make beautiful music together, too. See the newly-betrothed couple perform together right here at the Stopover!
