Chelsea Light Moving is Thurston Moore’s post-Sonic Youth project, formed in early 2012. The band consists of Keith Wood on guitar, John Moloney on drums and Samara Lubelski, who played violin on Moore’s solo records Demolished Thoughts and Trees Outside the Academy, rounding out the quartet on bass.
According to a profile piece in Spin, the band “expands upon the heavier and more discordant tendancies [sic] of the singer/guitar hero’s recently AWOL band, Sonic Youth.” They sporadically dropped singles throughout 2012 and played gigs in Canada and the US. Their debut full-length, the self-titled Chelsea Light Moving, is set to be released on March 5th.
