Ducktails

Matt Mondanile
Touring Band Members: To Be Announced
“The greatest appeal of this record [Killin the Vibe] is how little acting takes place, how little consideration has been given to ‘fully realizing the sound.’ Because when it comes time to take it or leave it, I’ll take the whole thing without any regrets.” -Dusted Magazine
Matt Mondanile, a Jersey Shore native associated with several different acts, most notably as the guitarist for Real Estate, blends airy vocals, synthetic guitar, and relaxed pace in his solo act, Ducktails. His songs sounds like music right out of a Sofia Coppola film: Virgin Suicides or Marie Antoinette anyone?
Ducktails is Mondanile’s first solo project. He released his debut album Landscapes in summer 2009, and Ducktails III: Arcade Dynamics, his second album, came out in early 2011. Similar to Real Estate’s garage band jam sessions, Ducktails’ first album is a compilation of guitar and drum mixing together. Mondanile’s second album is more New Order-esque. He draws inspiration not only from Real Estate, but also Hawaiian beach music, a little bit of country twang, and even some jazz, blurring the lines of Ducktails’ genre.
His third effort, The Flower Lane, out January 29th on Domino Records, promises to defy convention yet again and is already earning early critical buzz.
