“It is obvious that Murphy has a natural passion and propensity for music. I have seen him perform on a 6-string guitar, dulcimer and harmonica. I have heard him mention practicing on piano and 12-string guitar. His lyricism echoes the philosophical content of giants such as Goethe and Nietzsche. He is too young to get into bars and clubs. The first time I saw him play…I was completely floored. I had to leave the room.”-New York is Boring
Jamison Murphy is a poet, songwriter, and musician from Savannah, GA. Wielding guitars, dulcimers, autoharps and mandolins, Murphy crafts emotional, literate folk music akin to the powerful and deeply lyrical work of songwriters like Jeff Mangum and John Darnielle. Influenced by The Mountain Goats, Olivia Tremor Control, Vic Chesnutt, and Silver Jews, Murphy has released four albums–and still isn’t old enough to show everyone up in the bars around town. His latest release is Fruitful Life.
