…One of those releases that engages [you] within a few bars; immediately feeling like something special. Something important. Something to keep around, something to tell your best friends about.”–My Old Kentucky Blog

There song “Animals” was featured on an episode of Follow My Vans.

When Josh Rheault got in touch with Boston-based Sammy Dent about making music together, the musician decided to move across the country from Los Angeles to his childhood home of Suffield, Connecticut. In the late months of 2010, Rheault began renovating what used to be his family’s tobacco-curing barn into his new band’s recording space.

Once Rheault and Dent found Jordan Flower, the band’s bassist, the quickly filled up their schedule towards the end of 2011, and by the end of summer 2012, the band had already wrapped up their first tour. Since Mercies is an unsigned band, they had to provide all of their own accommodations while on their tour: “Every night was a new experience; different local bands, no guarantees, no idea if we’d make enough money for gas. But we wouldn’t have had it any other way,” claimed Flower after returning back to “The Barn” in Suffield.

Mercies plans to release their third album in spring 2013. The experimental sounds (such as a tin of nails used for effects in previous songs), lulls of guitar, and breezy vocals of their earlier music make for a relaxing break from a busy day.
