Moon King is a 2-piece indie-garage-dream-experimental-pop-punk band from Toronto. Moon King came to life in late 2010, when Daniel Woodhead — aka Daniel Benjamin — began writing new material. He was then joined by childhood friend and former bandmate Maddy Wilde, after their previous band dissolved in 2009.

The duo released their debut EP, Obsession I, in August 2012, and quickly set the local scene aflame in their native Ontario. The EP took the number 5 slot on Silent Shout’s Top 10 EP’s of 2012 list, and the video for their single “Only Child” was ranked #15 on Silent Shout’s Top 20 Videos of 2012. The follow-up EP, Obsession II, has just wrapped production and is awaiting release.

When not composing dreamy, electronic-infused music with Maddy, frontman Daniel can usually be found participating in one of his numerous side gigs — from touring with his brother Airick’s band Doldrums, to playing drums for Grimes and writing “aggro-punk rap” with Alex Low. With influences ranging from Cocteau Twins to the Ramones and Julee Cruise, Moon King is an up-and-coming band that you will not want to miss. Catch them live at the Stopover!
