“United States of Being named #2 Top Local Album of 2012 by Nashville Scene Critics’ Poll“
From the country music capital of the nation comes PUJOL, a stripped-down rock-n-roll band with a DIY attitude that would make Johnny Ramone proud. Frontman and founder Daniel Pujol has been rabidly releasing music under his namesake band since 2009, and has played with an ever-changing cast of musicians both in the studio and on tour. Prolific doesn’t even begin to describe Pujol’s musical output — within 2 years of forming PUJOL he had released a total of 10 singles and EPs. The band’s first full-length, United States of Being, dropped in June of 2012.
Though PUJOL the band is only entering its 4th year, Pujol the man has been making his presence known around the Nashville music scene for quite some time. A former member of now-defunct punk outfit MEEMAW, Pujol has recorded and released music with a number of labels, including Third Man Records (Jack White’s label), Infinity Cat Recordings, and Turbo Time Records. For United States of Being, he signed up with Saddle Creek Records, an indie label co-founded by Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes fame.
Pujol likes to keep busy, and not just with his musical projects — he’s a part-time grad school student, a published poet, and a YMCA employee. He’s always on the move, so be sure to catch him at the Stopover!
