Savannah Stopover

Formed in 2007 by longtime friends Andrya Ambro and Sarah Register, Talk Normal is a noise-rock band from Brooklyn, NY. After releasing their debut full-length,Sugarland, in 2009, the duo embarked on a tour that included gigs with Sonic Youth, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Lydia Lunch. October 2012 saw the release of their sophomore LP, Sunshine, which was a critical success and spawned another tour with Thurston Moore, this time playing with his new band Chelsea Light Moving (who, by the way, are also playing this year’s Stopover).

Melodically melding dissonance and harmony, Talk Normal pay homage to noisy forerunners like Cocteau Twins, Velvet Underground and Laurie Anderson & Creatures, all the while crafting something quite unique and distinguished. Their format is just about as minimalist as it gets — Register churning out chunky, diverse guitar tones behind Ambro’s driving, militaristic drumming.
