The Whigs originate from Athens, GA, birthplace of many a successful indie and rock band. Parker Gispert, lead vocals, and Julian Dorio, drums, have lead The Whigs since their incarnation, when the duo attended the University of Georgia together beginning in 2002. Timothy Deaux later joined the group on bass. The Whigs have toured with We Are Scientists and Dead Confederate on their rise onto the major music scene. Their sound takes you back to garage band days but their tune and lyrics are all but irrelevant. Lead singer Gispert says “when we’re out there driving from show to show, that’s my favorite time to get new song ideas.” They are currently on tour with the Drive-By Truckers but will detour for one day to play Savannah. In their new album Enjoy the Company, The Whigs are moving on from darker themes Gispert says. “We didn’t make a sugary record, but I think we’re honestly feeling good about the band and our lives and it comes across in the sound.”
