Hailing from Athens, Georgia, Yip Deceiver is lead by Davey Pierce, most notably known for being the bassist for Athens based band of Montreal. The two bands have similarities, including strangely poignant lyrical construction and a fantastic sense of humor, but Yip Deceiver is noticeably more electronic and lower-key than of Montreal. Multi-instrumentalist Davey Pierce wanted to communicate something different with this side project, and has drawn from his love of 80’s power pop, as well as influences like R&B and electro. Yip Deceiver’s music is a playful take on experimental pop, and Davey’s use of powerful hooks and intuitive understanding of electronica creates captivating, memorable and high-octane anthems. “Modern-experimental-funk” suits the sort of jazzy and synth-driven jams of songs like “Get Strict” and “For All The Haters”. Enjoying success with their debut LP of the same name, Yip Deceiver, the band has taken to the road to tour with its sister band, of Montreal and has expressed a great love for the touring life.
