“French horn is hard to play. Making hot beats is fun and easy. LET’S MAKE A BAND.” These are the words that led to the conception of French Horn Rebellion. Although currently based in Brooklyn, brothers Robert and David Perlick-Molinari were born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The duo’s name French Horn Rebellion is literal. Robert was the first chair French horn player in the Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra and David was a music producer/computer sound engineer. Robert decided that a career in classical music was dissatisfying and “decided to make hot beats instead”. Combined with his brother’s sound engineering skills they set out to create a sound they describe as “Next Jack Swing”; 80’s influenced electro rock with funky bass lines, heavy beats, and a wry sense of humor.

French Horn Rebellion already has a notable pedigree. David has produced tracks for MGMT’s Time to Pretend EP. The pair have already scored a Record of the Week with BBC Radio 1. They’ve earned a Single of the Week from Les Inrockuptibles, who described their sound as “the euphoric soundtrack to 2010”.
