The Savannah Stopover Annual Band Poster Competition is Back!
The 2017 Savannah Stopover Band Poster Competition is now accepting submissions. We're excited to announce that we've partnered with Sulfur Studios this year for our annual Art meets Music competition. In addition to helping curate, judge and hang the posters at this year's festival, Sulfur Studios will host a pre-Stopover Exhibition Event for all participating artists on Wednesday, March 9th. Special thanks to MailChimp for sponsoring this year's competition!

With so many female fronted bands playing this year’s Stopover, we had to dedicate this week’s digest to the women who rock!
Julien Baker + Allison Crutchfield:
This year, we’re launching a Digest thread to help you find your perfect personal festival lineup… sort of like a “You Might Also Like” tab in the corner of your screen. Every other week, we’ll highlight two complementary acts who are huge on our radar this Stopover Season.
In the spotlight this week are female powerhouses, Julien Baker and Allison Crutchfield.
“Wish I could write songs about anything other than death,” Baker almost coos over the slow strum of her guitar in the title track of her debut album, Sprained Ankle. But that sound is what makes her music so addicting. Her voice, soft yet strong, invites a feeling of intimacy in every tune she plays. Through lyrics deeply rooted in imagery, she is able to touch on issues as heavy as killing the parts of yourself you don’t like, instantly blurring the lines between Baker herself and the listener and rocking the audience’s fears to sleep with her melancholy lullabies.
This year is slated to be huge for the 21-year-old. Having signed to Matador Records earlier this month, dropped the title single, Funeral Pyre, for the 7-inch she’s releasing in March, and announced she’ll be going on tour with The Decemberists this spring, there’s nowhere but up for her to go.
Get your tissues out and prepare for a set to give you ALL the feels this Stopover.
Gone are her teenage years spent playing and touring with twin sister, Kate from Waxahatchee. Now Allison Crutchfield steps out solo to grapple with one’s longing for retrospection yet urgent need to move on in her debut LP. However, instead of taking a stripped-down ballad approach to address such introspective topics, the crooner takes quite a different turn with her rubbery pop punk aesthetic laden with feelings of wanderlust.
Her long-awaited project, Tourist in the Town, dropped today and the reviews are pouring in. Here’s the AV Club’s review: http://www.avclub.com/review/her-debut-solo-album-allison-crutchfield-finds-pea-248883
Vagabon Drops New Single "Minneapolis":
Providing a stark contrast to the stripped sounds of Fear & Force and emotionally charged indie-punk vibes of The Embers, Vagabon hits us with a playful joint to let loose to as the weekend rolls in. Can’t wait for her debut album, Infinite Worlds, to drop Feb. 24th! Not to mention she’s going on tour with Allison Crutchfield (talk about serious girl power) starting this March!
