The Stopover List - July 2022

The July List is hotter than Georgia asphalt with 25 new tracks we've fallen hard for including new singles from some of our favorite artists like Alvvays (how has it been 5 years?), Cass McCombs, Christine and the Queens, Sylvan Esso, Flipturn and Australia's Good Morning.

The Elf Power new album Artificial Countrysides is finally out (their 14th in a 30 year career!) and it's some of their finest work. And Dawes just dropped the most sprawling and unique record of their career, Misadventures of Doomscroller. Give it a thoughtful listen!

What's on repeat? Debut albums from newcomers Grace Ives, Launder and Naima Bock as well as tunes from a slew of new discoveries like San Francisco's The Red, Pinks and Purples, New Orleans' Julie Odell, Alberta, Canada's Ghost Woman, NYC's Pan Arcadia and Nashville's Jive Talk ( who recently played a red hot Dog Days show in SAV).

We're especially excited for the debut album from London's Gently Tender; the project from three former members of Palma Violets. Look for that to drop in late August. It was recorded in Stopover alum Matthew E White's Spacebomb Studios in RVA; an instant badge of cred!

And as always, don't miss the best new work from Stopover alum. This month's list includes new music from Lee Baines +The Glory Fires, Twen, Caleb Caudle, Mckinley Dixon and of course Elf Power!

Stay cool and summer on!

The Stopover List - June 2022

The June List is out! What’s on tap? A treasure trove of new music from stalwarts like The Black Angels, Murder By Death, The Mountain Goats and even a previously unlreleased track from Stereolab! We’ve got  the latest albums from Angel Olsen, Craig Finn (The Hold Steady), Mt. Joy and Bartees Strange on heavy rotation along with a slew of great singles from new faves like Royel Otis, Kiwi Jr, Enumclaw, Blondshell and Marci ( Marta Cikojevic from TOPS).

We love keeping up with our Stopover alums so don’t miss great new singles from All Them Witches, Alex G, Adia Victoria, The Beths and that aforementioned track from Murder By Death is killer.

We relish in a few curve balls so make sure to check out the 5 minute instrumental dance track from Copenhagen DJ and producer Sexy Lazer and the fascinating collab between avante-garde Jazz composer Sam Gendel and 12 year old singer-songwriter Antonia Cytrynowicz.

Enjoy!

The Stopover List- May 2022

The May List is out. Check out the 25 tracks we can’t stop listening to from brand new and recent releases.  New music from Sharon Van Etten, Smile and Arcade Fire  seem to be on everyone’s earbuds these days, but we’re also still swooning over Spoon’s latest album with  deeper cut “My Babe”  and great tracks from new  discoveries like  Svvarms, Momma,  MJ Lenderman, Little Brazil and the fantastic Sub Pop debut from Toronto’s Weird Nightmare.

Do we need a “country” album from Wilco or an album of Beach Boys covers from She & Him? If the lead singles are any indication, we do! Had we forgotten about  great bands like Calexico or Delta Spirit? Never! So glad to have new music from them.

Real Estate frontman Martin Courtney dropped the debut single from a new album out in June on Domino Records- it’s dripping with  a layered, nostalgia vibe that seems perfect for  summer road trips. And then there’s Seratones laid back R&B mantra to “Get Your Shit Together, Babe”.  Ok, yeah, who hasn’t wanted to put this feeling into a song?

And as always, some of our favorite festival alums are back with new music including Kate Bollinger, American Aquarium and Los Colognes ( that’s a 2014 way, way throwback artist  for you Stopover followers!). Listen below on Spotify music lovers.
