Savannah Stopover Music Festival and The Park at Eastern Wharf are teaming up for the monthly Riverfront Concert Series! The next Monthly Concert Series is Friday, June 20th from 7-10 p.m. featuring Pylon Reenactment Society, with special guest Richard Barone and Savannah’s own, Maupas.

The original Pylon helped define and shape the Athens, GA Music scene in the late 70's and early 80's, influencing everyone from REM to the B-52's and gaining a reputation as one of the best new wave, post punk bands in America.

Their "reenactment" as PRS maintains Vanessa Briscoe Hay at the helm, whose edgy and unique vocal style results in a live show that is equal parts Pylon hits and new material from their 2024 critically acclaimed debut album Magnet Factory which the Associated Press heralded:

"Amid the algorithm-driven din that now fills earbuds, Magnet Factory sounds as fresh as Pylon first did..."

A two time Savannah Stopover Festival alum, we can't wait to welcome them back to Savannah!

Food Trucks include Mexicali Fresh, Slow Fire BBQ, Royal Tasty Avenue and Cone Ranger.

Food and drinks will also be available for purchase from Squirrel’s and bar by fleeting at Thompson Savannah.

PYLON REENACTMENT SOCIETY

More than a tribute band, Pylon Reenactment Society write new songs with Pylon as their guiding star.  “PRS” have delighted old fans for around a decade while making new ones. PRS features Vanessa Briscoe Hay of the legendary post-punk band Pylon,  Jason NeSmith and Kay Stanton of Supercluster and Casper & The Cookies, and Gregory Sanders of Casper & The Cookies. Their 2024 debut album Magnet Factory and live performances have been met with critical acclaim. PRS sets include a mixture of Pylon favorites mixed with the new material.

Uncut Magazine awarded the album an 8/10 rating, saying “Magnet Factory’ finds the quartet in scintillating form, shifting smartly between angular noise-pop and nervy punk-funk, topped with Hay’s spiky vocals… a terrific debut from American post-punk veterans.” The Associated Press said, “...Briscoe Hay remains a distinctive, boundary-defying songwriter… Amid the algorithm-driven din that now fills earbuds, Magnet Factory sounds as fresh as Pylon first did…the band is an irresistible blend of simplicity and synchronicity, the music both edgy and therapeutic.” Rolling Stone Magazine noted of their performance at SXSW 2024 “…Pylon Reenactment Society dodges nostalgia partially because Pylon was hardwired for the future…”  Pop Matters wrote, “Pylon Reenactment Society has crafted an album that is fresh, fierce, bright and dynamic.”

Pylon Reenactment Society continues to support the release of ‘Magnet Factory’ by performing select U.S. dates. Currently they are working on new material.
